Food Warmers

Many people find that as winter grinds on, the begin to lose the glow and excitement that the season held for them. At the outset of the season, we unpack our scarves and snow boots with a flurry of excitement, looking forward to brisk winds and long evenings spent curled up by the fireplace, sipping cocoa and getting lost in a good book as the snow falls outside.

By January, we’re beginning to tire of layering up every time we want to make a dash for the car. Not only that, but the dreary, monotone color scheme of winter (white, grey, grey, brown) has begun to wear on us.

If such is the case, why not fill those commercial food warmers with something guaranteed to warm both the heart and the stomach?

Food Warmers

Start with a selection of roasted winter vegetables, including carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash. Tossed with olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and parsley and baked to tenderness, this savory dish will be sure to combat winter’s chill.

We know of nothing more warming on a cold day than a bowl of something hot: a good soup, stew, or chili. In this area, it really is hard to go wrong, but we recommend this recipe for chicken corn chili.
